The Salvation Army donation hopper has been removed from Iver Recreation Ground Car Park
It is no longer practical to have the hopper located in the Recreation Ground, as the facility has increasingly attracted inappropriate donations. More recently, bags and loose items have been regularly left around the hopper, resulting in fly-tipping. Often, dangerous and sometimes hazardous materials have been found in the area.
This poses a health and safety risk, particularly as the Car Park is used by pedestrians, including children, who could be affected by the waste. It has also created a risk for Parish Council staff, who have had to clear the fly-tipping and have been exposed to dangerous and hazardous items.
Charity shops in nearby town and village centres continue to accept donations, and textiles can also be recycled through Buckinghamshire Council’s waste facilities.
As better weather approaches, we’d also like to remind residents that litter bins in our open spaces, including the Recreation Ground, are for litter only — not for the dumping of general household waste. Leaving a bin bag next to a rubbish bin is considered fly-tipping and incurs a cost for removal.
Above all, fly-tipping makes our open spaces unsightly and can spoil the enjoyment of these areas for all users. It is also a criminal offence that can result in prosecution.
