Solar Panel Installation
The Ivers Parish Council has successfully completed the first phase of installing solar panels, also known as photovoltaics (PV), at council-owned facilities. This initial phase took place at the Parish Council offices on the High Street, where the panels now capture energy from the sun to power the office lighting, heating, hot water system, computers, and other electrical equipment.
It is hoped that grant funding can be obtained to proceed with the second phase, which will include installing solar panels at the council’s sports pavilions at the Iver and Iver Heath Recreation Grounds.
- To reduce the council’s consumption of electricity from non-renewable sources.
- To reduce the council’s energy costs, in the long term.
- To move to the use of free, renewable, low carbon energy, at parish council owned facilities.
- To ensure that residents’ fees for hiring the pavilions can be kept as low as possible, as utility costs are factored into the hire charges.
- To install solar panels/PVs at all parish council owned facilities in two phases (phase two is dependent on the receipt of grant funding).

Accessible Allotment Project
Consultation:
The Ivers Parish Council (TIPC) are keen to include the community in the decision-making process for matters that affect the community. Surveys help us identify and quantify your thoughts, this is particularly important when we are applying for grant funding; demonstrating that we have asked the community and considered your thoughts, thus increasing the likelihood of grants being awarded.
Project Background:
TIPC do not currently have any allotment plots that are suitable for residents with restricted mobility. However, it has one vacant plot, at the Slough Road, Iver Heath Allotment Site, which is ideally situated next to the pedestrian entrance and car park, making it easily accessible for those arriving at the allotments on foot, mobility scooter or by car. TIPC are considering creating an accessible allotment plot in this unused area for rent to a small number of new or existing allotment tenants.
- To improve equality and inclusion for residents with restricted mobility wishing to take on an allotment at the Iver Heath allotment site.
- To improve allotment availability for residents on the allotment waiting list or residents who are not able to maintain or do not want a full-size allotment plot.
- To design and introduce an accessible allotment with the provision of a minimum of 8 raised allotment beds and small ‘sample gardening’ beds.
- To develop a sense of community by creating a relaxing communal seating area with accessibility features and a communal compost area.
